  1. Inke Arns, PhD (Dr. phil.), since 2005 artistic director of Hartware MedienKunstVerein, Dortmund, Germany (www.hmkv.de). Previously, she has worked as an independent curator and writer specializing in media art, net cultures, and Eastern Europe. Since 1993 she has curated exhibitions in Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Kosovo, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, and Switzerland (e.g., “Irwin: Retroprincip 1983–2003,” 2003; „What is Modern Art? (Group Show),“ 2006; “History Will Repeat Itself,” 2007; “Anna Kournikova Deleted By Memeright Trusted System: Art in the Age of Intellectual Property,” 2008; and „Awake are only the spirits“ – On ghosts and their media, 2009). She lived in Paris (1982-86), studied Slavic Studies, Eastern European studies, political science, and art history in Berlin and Amsterdam (1988–1996) and in 2004 obtained a PhD from the Humboldt-Universität, Berlin, with a thesis focusing on a paradigmatic shift in the way artists reflected the historical avant-garde and the notion of utopia in visual and media art projects of the 1980s and 1990s in (ex-) Yugoslavia and Russia. She has held teaching positions at universities and art academies in Berlin, Leipzig, Rotterdam, Zurich, and Dortmund (2000–2009) and has lectured and published internationally. www.inkearns.de
