In this volume Dean considers the relationship between capitalism and citizenship, and explores how a rehabilitated and expanded concept of citizenship might contribute to a revived democratic practice with a global reach. She relates this discussion to the ‘exhaustion of political imagination’ in the post-1989 world, connected to the demise of really existing socialism.
