This volume contains an exchange between French historian Furet and German historian Nolte, who discuss if and in what ways a common genealogy linking fascism and communism might asserted, a discussion which parallels central debates on the left (as well as the right) about how to understand the similarities and differences between Nazism and Stalinism.
