      1. Catalog of the Manifesta 3, European Biennial of Contemporary Art exhibition, which took place in Ljubljana from 23.6–24.9.2000. One of the reasons the exhibition was important was that it was first of the Manifestas to be cited in a ‘former East’ location. Two of the co-curators (Maria Hlavajova, Kathrin Rhomberg) are FORMER WEST curators. Exhibition concept focused on the increasing tensions between the celebratory rhetoric of an ‘expanded’ Europe in the post-1989 context, and the reactionary migration politics and border controls, violent ethnic conflict (particularly in the former Yugoslavia itself), and economic inequalities that still separated the East and West in significant ways. Exhibited artists included: Ursula Biemann, Phil Collins, Josef Dabernig, Urs Fischer, Edward Krasinski, Denisa Lehocká, Adrian Paci, Manfred Pernice, Susan Philipsz, Anri Sala, Ene-Liis Semper, Simon Starling, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Sisley Xhafa, etc.
