In this short volume, Žižek considers belief in our contemporary age. He claims that religious belief (belief in God or a higher power) has been replaced by a postsecular trust in globalization, multiculturalism, and multinational corporations and argues, through a mix of psychoanalysis and pop culture, that it’s not always a good thing when our beliefs are shown to be true.
