This book is comprised of Borradori’s separate interviews with Habermas and Derrida weeks after 9/11, in which they try to theorize and account for the attacks and how the twenty-first century must deal with the specter of global terrorism, a concept which both philosophers find problematic. They both argue (from very different perspectives) about the need for a new cosmopolitan, transational approach to freedom and security.
