A collection of texts which consider contemporary art’s relationship to the past and the increasing difficulty of visual culture in general to ‘represent’ history in the face of globalization and the mediatization of culture. Contributions consider what strategies contemporary artists turn to in order to provide counter-histories and reconsiderations of the past in their works.
