        Second Manifesto for Philosophy

        Alain Badiou

        London Polity Press 2010

        ISBN 978-0745648620

      1. While Badiou’s first manifesto argued against the so-called ‘end’ of philosophy, the second manifesto aims to show how, on the contrary, in today’s world, ‘philosophy’ is invoked constantly, misused and employed by corporate and political interests alike as synonymous with ‘ethics’ and ‘duty.’ As such this ‘politicized’ philosophy has come to represent the conservatism of maintaining the status quo. Here Badiou argues that the true power of philosophical thinking is to create a space for imaging the world otherwise. See also Badiou’s recent book The Communist Hypothesis.
