Habermas responds to the waning hegemony of the US and analyzes political events since September 11, especially with regard to the radical unilateralism of the Bush administration, and its negative impact on US/Europe relations. He argues for a model of supranational governance, inspired by Kantian notions of cosmopolitanism.
