In this book (first published in French in 1982), leading French philosopher and theorist Nancy already engaged with the failures of communism before the dissolution of the Eastern bloc, and argued for a reconsideration of the concept of ‘community’ (as an alternative to empty Communist ‘collectivity’) so as to reinvest it with political meanings.
